Jessica Strömbäck

Jessica is a founder and Executive Director of the Smart Energy Demand Coalition (SEDC).  As Director she actively works actively with European policy makers to enable demand side participation throughout European energy markets.

She is Chairman at VaasaETT, Global Energy Think Tank based in Finland.  She specializes in smart metering and demand response as well as market structure and requirements for demand side program development.  She is a co-founder of the Retailers Taskforce working under the Smart Grids Technology Platform for the European Commission.   She has acted as research director or participated in multiple research projects. She has acted as project manager for such projects as ‘SG4-GHG’ measuring the potential of the Smart Grid to lower green house gas emissions around Europe, ‘Empower Demand’ comparing 100 residential pilot projects according to 23 variables involving over 450,000 households and ‘Respond 2010’ an 18 month multi-client study reviewing the development of residential Smart Metering and Demand Response in 23 national markets.

Chris King

Chris King is President, Strategic Consulting at eMeter, a Siemens Business, and Chairman of the Smart Energy Demand Coalition based in Brussels, Belgium. He is responsible for strategic activities, including market analysis and product strategy, and policy, working with regulators and legislators worldwide.  Mr. King is also a director of the Demand Response and Smart Grid Coalition, the Association for Demand Response and Smart Grid, and the U.S. Demand Response National Action Plan Coalition.  He has 30 years of experience in smart meter policy and regulatory affairs, working for electric utilities, competitive retailers, and technology companies.  Mr. King, who has testified before the U.S. Congress, holds advanced degrees in science and business from Stanford University and a law degree from Concord Law School.

Ali Haider

Policy Advisor at SEDC

Ali joined VaasaETT in December 2011. He has an MSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics and has previously worked for Statoil’s EU Affairs Office and represented several large Finnish energy-sector companies at the EU level. Ali is currently focused on managing the Smart Energy Demand Coalition and monitoring EU energy policy and regulatory developments related to smart grids and demand side management.

Andy White

Andy has more than ten years experience in sales and marketing having worked on a wide range of projects in both the public and private sector.

Alicia Carrasco

Alicia joined eMeter in April 2010, having previously work in the Energy Industry for 9 years. She is a recognized specialist in Regulations on Smart Metering, Smart Grid, HAN, Tariff and Incentives, Renewables Integration as well as on Data Communications, Demand Response and Consumers Engagement.

As the EMEA Region Regulatory Director, Alicia has been eMeter thought leader on smart energy and has maintained regular adialogue with Energy Authorities and Energy Regulators regarding the development of concepts, services, and has responded actively to several consultations. She heavily participated in the formation of the Smart Energy Demand Coalition.

She has an open view of the future and links regulations with business opportunities and she is an international recognized contributor to the development of a Smart Grid business model that enables different stakeholders to realise some benefits; from the utilities, to the consumers, to the network operators. She foresees a future where the energy sector will count with data and information to lower C02, balance the market, bring choices, competition and engage consumers.

Dennis Quinn

“Dennis Quinn is an experienced executive with extensive service in both the regulated and non-regulated electric utility industry. Dennis is a founding partner in Joule Assets Inc, a company focused on development of energy reduction asset markets through software-based tools and analytics coupled with finance and investment capability. Prior to this, Dennis was a founding member of Celerity Energy, one of the first demand response companies in the US in 2000 and early on successfully developed one of the largest portfolios of demand response clients in the Western US by developing win/win business relationships with his clients, which ranged from major industrial, commercial and institutional customers. Dennis was instrumental in developing early rules of participation for DR in in the US. Dennis has extensive experience in renewable energy project development and the finding solutions to system integration of intermittent resources. Dennis received his MBA and undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Oregon State University.”

John L. Harris

John Harris is Vice President, Head of Governmental Affairs and Communications for Landis+Gyr (Europe) AG since March 2008. He previously worked in Energy Policy for E.ON Energie AG, both in the company’s headquarters in Munich, Germany, and in the E.ON EU Representative Office in Brussels.

In 1999 he joined DaimlerChrysler AG in Stuttgart, following tenure as Deputy Director of the German-American Center in Stuttgart. Before coming to Europe, Mr. Harris was a Police Officer with the Boulder, Colorado Police Department and spent four years in the United States Marine Corps.

John Harris holds an M.A. in International Economics and European Studies from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in Washington, D.C., and a B.A. summa cum laude in German Literature and International Affairs from the University of Colorado in Boulder, USA.
